Let me get this straight, The soviets who took the biggest brunt of casualties in WW2, who were our allies and also liberated many concentration camps, suddenly decided to target their own people in the war, which made them join nazi units to fight them.

The Waffen SS is responsible for 125 canadian soldiers being killed many under torture and firing squad after capture. The SS was a volunteer group that resided above the Nazi hierarchy. It was Hitlers own personal hit squad. The staffed Auschwitz and others and routinely rounded up jews on the run.

And somehow this is Stalins fault.

Truth is that part of the world (ukraine) has been suspect for many decades of having divided loyalties, even today. They still have nazi parades in some of the towns.

No doubt there were 100s of thousands of confused young Ukrainians with the same haunting memories of Stalin's Holodomor having to make a decision on what side of WW2 to be on with influencers pulling in both directions.

As for Stalin liberating many concentration camps, he was Hitler's ally up till June of 1941 and supplied the Nazi's with raw materials for their war machine while the Russians occupied Eastern Poland up until that time period.
