Very cool. Roatan is very beautiful with awesome beaches. Isn’t the bends a concern at those depths or are you breathing a different mix of air then? Just curious as I’ve only snorkeled a couple times.

bends can happen deep or very shallow , it’s caused by time at depth and ascending to fast and no safety stop . A 3 minute safety stop at 15 ft stops it from happening . If your no decompression limit is reached on a deep dive then extra decompression stops are mandatory . A 25 minute dive at 100 ft is a navy rule , although no recreational diver would do it . Most dives are 50-70 ft , 50-55 minutes total, real nice colours are 30-50 . Deep dives for me were only in training or shipwrecks . The deeper you go the more air you use . On some deep dives extra regulators are sent down on ropes with extra tanks and you hang out 15 ft below the boat for 10 minutes or so . This lets the nitrogen (bends) escape from your blood . I have gone to 114 ft , very little Color , was on a shipwreck . A dive computer does all the calculating for you now . As you can see here I could stay down for 23 minutes before my no decompression limit is reached . Max depth of dive was 90’ , at 67’ at time of pic , ft/min showing instead of dive time as computer telling me to slow down on ascending!And water temp of 80 degrees at 67’ most dive you start out deep then keep shallowing up as you go

In Roatan, the second longest reef in the world comes right to the shore

Due to increased CO2 in atmosphere the Acidification of the oceans has killed off a huge amount of coral in oceans- diving and snorkling aint what it used to be
