Some of you seem to forget the obvious that some private media owners exert control over the editorial content of their entities and are not independent sources of unbiased news.

Case in point. Fox and Rupert Murdoch purposely encouraged lying about the "stolen" election and Dominion voting machines. They are in a lot of trouble if they lose the libel case for 1.5 billion.

The CBC is publicly funded and independent of the government of the day.

The CBC has a long history of investigating and breaking negative news and scandals about Liberal governments whether they liked it or not.

Many of you also complain about CTV and Global and all of the privately controlled MSM outlets.

The reality is many of you will never be happy unless the media and the news only supports your particular point of view.

Crypto Polly and some of you want to get rid of any media outlets you don't like, just like Putin and Russia do.

Crypto Polly wants to hide from the media and not answer hard questions. If you can't answer hard questions and defend your self in public then you don't deserve to be Prime Minister.

No one forgets that fact. Instead, we exercise the option of voting with our wallets if we don't want to support the agenda of private media or their advertisers.
No one has that option with the cbc. We can all turn it off and ignore it, but our tax dollars will still continue to support them making content.

Why does everything have to be one extreme or the other with you?
The only one suggesting to get rid of the CBC is you.
The rest of us reasonable tax paying citizens simply want them not to be funded by our tax dollars.
I would fully support a voluntary tax for anyone who wants to support the cbc. And that model is certainly possible in the digital age.
How much additional tax dollars would you be willing to pay to have access to the cbc? I'm going to go out on a limb and guess it is the exact same amount you would be willing to pay for covid vaccines, judging by your lack of answers to bin lurking question.

Take out the "much needed" in the first line.

Very few CBC articles are done by on location journalist. Most are editorials done from social media or near word for word government news releases.
Virtually no investigative journalism.

I used to enjoy cbc radio. Always knew they slanted left and didn’t really care as the content of programming sold itself. Far as television it has never appealed to me. Once we were able to have more than two stations when I was a kid I gladly watched learning networks until they became trash. Far as I’m concerned cbc has went down the rubbish rabbit hole most other network tv has. Honest factual news and information programs are too boring for the goldfish attention populace to absorb. Now it is all fear, vitriol, and dummied down stuff. Far as the Canadian taxpayer floating the cbc as a supposed unbiased news source is laughable at best. Heard Trudeaus cry fest about Polivere crapping on the cbc and laughed my ass off. If someone would believe any of that tripe is a bloody moron like someone believing Tucker tells the truth always. If you want true public broadcasting the provincial networks like SCN Knowledge TVO are where it’s at. SCN ended up morphing in City Sask but still has a lot of local programming. Check out Political Blind Date, Paramedics, Dirt Farmers etc.
