The trickle down effects of the beloved carbon tax are only exacerbating inflationary pressures for the plebs with no way to sidestep them. Carbon tax is a tax on existence. The gst is the fairest tax as essentials to existence and costs of business are exempt. Bitching about pst on insurance holds a weak argument as compared to carbon tax.

In 2022 the market prices for fossil energy source rose much more than the carbon tax and ran up prices for consumers and resulted in record windfall profits for oil companies and a massive world wide transfer of wealth to oil companies that dwarfed the impact of carbon pricing.
90% of the federal carbon tax directly paid by consumers are directly returned to consumers by the federal government.
Rising energy prices were the leading cause of inflation in 2022 in many industrial countries regardless of whether they have a carbon tax or not.
But the deniers never want to discuss the obvious elephant in the room. Instead they blame the carbon tax for everything.
And of course Moe and Smith are going to protect their friends and supporters in the oil industry. Fossil fuel producing provinces are looking at a future of declining revenues.
It will be a long transition and especially difficult if they don't plan for diversification of the economy especially in Alberta.
Former Prime Minister Steven Harper already acknowledged and accepted that Canada would have to stop using fossil fuels for energy by 2100. In the end it might take that long to get the job done.Last edited by chuckChuck; May 7, 2023, 07:41.

The elephant in the room …. 90% of the carbon tax goes back to those who do not pay it .
Simply a wealth redistribution scheme , and you know it ..
