    From the Financial Times

Toyota says solid-state battery breakthrough can halve cost and size
Japanese carmaker plans to commercialise technology in electric vehicles by 2027

"Toyota claimed it had made a “technological breakthrough” to resolve durability issues and “a solution for materials” that would allow an EV powered by a solid-state battery to have a range of 1,200km and charging time of 10 minutes or less."

And who was telling us battery technology would never improve?

And who has spent the past 5+ years touting solid state batteries as a solution which is ready for commercialization next year? Still 4 years away, all these years later.

But that is beside the point. You are deflecting again. Answering a question which no one asked, while still avoiding the simple question which Hamloc keeps asking.

I never said next year. It was Panosonic who said they were working on solid state batteries and partnered with Toyota in 2019 But who cares about the timelines except you, the nit picker from no where who's only argument is, it is too slow! LOL

Half the cost and twice the range with solid state batteries and EVs will kill any arguments that EVs are not viable or too expensive. The battery is currently the most expensive part of an EV.

You kept telling us that battery technology wont get better or cheaper. Wrong again according to Toyota.

Toyota is the largest automaker on the planet and is about to deliver an impressive cheaper better battery in its models in 4 years.

And you don't like it because it ruins your argument that we need to keep burning fossil fuels in very inefficient ICEs! LOL

And what’s the lifespan of them?

Moot point that they’re half the cost if they only last half as long.

I still haven’t seen anything about making batteries more environmentally friendly which is kind of negating the entire point of an EV isn’t it.

621 mile range? 10-80% in 20 minutes? Sounds too good to be true.

The most efficient EV's on the market require roughly 25-26 kWh per 100 miles of range. Assuming Toyota can match that (unproven), you're looking at a 155 kWh battery, at the very smallest. To charge from 10% to 80% with a 13% average charging loss, you'd have to put in 125 kWh in 20 minutes, which would require the use of a 375kW charger, which does not exist in any meaningful capacity. Even V4 Superchargers are only 250kW.

Color me doubtful of those claims.

Chuck's claim of sending 1200km of range down that charging cord in 10 minutes seems like in might involve a grid and infrastructure that isn't even dreamed about.

Oh CC and greenies are totally dreaming of pie in sky....same as the VAX is perfectly infallible.
Watching too many Sci Fi movies, distorted their reality.

Chuck2, your like talking to Trudeau, it doesn’t matter how many times I ask the question you refuse to answer it. Funny how the left refuses to answer simple questions and then instead deflect on some pie in the sky future miracle. Fml!

Yes, interesting to see that VW has stopped production at its EV plant in Germany for 6 weeks due to poor demand. What gives Chuck2? What will you deflect to now?!

I'll take a stab at answering this one. It is obviously collusion by the big greedy oil companies using their excess profits to fund a propaganda smear campaign spewing misinformation.
The aim of which is to convince the poor mislead gullible consumers not to give up their expensive gas guzzling, polluting ice vehicles and exchange them for much more expensive, much less environmentally friendly, much less reliable, and about to be obsolete electric vehicles, for which the supporting infrastructure does not exist even in theory.

Try getting to Regina from just out of White City with one full charge pushing against a 55 km. West Wind.

Are you serious? Are they that bad? I like the idea of an EV but it’s not for me.

That VW plant in Ontario will be the most expensive white elephant in Canadian history

And that is no small accomplishment. The list of government sponsored white elephant boondoggles , is massive in this country.
Possibly exceeded only by the number of liberal scandals.
