Chuck2, I listened to John Ivison’s latest video in which he interviewed Jagmeet Singh. Jagmeet blamed corporate greed and energy prices for inflation. If gasoline is $1.40 a litre in Alberta and $1.88 a litre in NDP BC is the extra 48 cents a litre cost in BC corporate greed or government greed?! Same oil, same refined gas in both provinces what gives?

The excess profits are coming directly from consumers and in many cases leaving the country and are invested elsewhere and there are no rebates.
BC didn't win the geology lottery and didn't have the luck of sitting on billions of barrels of oil on which they could fund their core government services.
So maybe BC needs to collect more taxes than Alberta? Did you ever think of that? No probably not!
Saskatchewan has higher fuel taxes than Alberta as well. Is Curly Moe just greedy too? LOL
The oil sands companies got a great deal with much lower royalties untill their capital costs of building all their mines and facilities were paid for.
A giant subsidy paid for by taxpayers. But you don't want to talk about that do you?
You would rather complain about the subsidies to other industries except your own and then tell us that EVs will never work!
Remember EVs are 80% efficient vs 20% for ICE vehicles.
Why are we wasting so much energy in inefficient ICE's? So the oil companies can sell us more gasoline at twice the cost of electricity? And pollute the atmosphere which also costs us alot?

But when you mention profit that many times in a row in a negative manner, any readers who didn't know better, might get the wrong impression about your political persuasions.
You might have just said the quiet part out loud.Last edited by AlbertaFarmer5; Jul 5, 2023, 13:27.

Yes we likely could have done a better job of royalty management. I've said that before.
We all wasted the easy money anyway. Inevitable.
Terms like "excess profits" don't really exist in the real world. No such thing.
Resources are a cornerstone of pension fund holdings and private accounts.
Shall we have Jagmeet look into your grain profits for 2022?
These questions are not for Chuck to answer as his responses are valueless.

What can be triggering if I let it, is the usage of particular words for dumbing down inflammatory purposes.
ex·cess
/ˈekˌses,ikˈses,ekˈses/
noun
1.
an amount of something that is more than necessary, permitted, or desirable
record
3 of 4
adjective
rec·ord ˈre-kərd also -ˌkȯrd
: of, relating to, or being one that is extraordinary among or surpasses others of its kind
Who sits in the chair that defines necessary, permitted or desirable?Last edited by blackpowder; Jul 5, 2023, 14:18.

And as we know, no one from the Laurentian Elite will ever do jail time for price fixing, collusion or bribery.
But the ankle biting rug pissers focus on one industry usually in one province.
For legal pursuits.
Tactics used by said same are similar to any inflammatory wording on the web used by any wild conspiracy theorist.
Do try to rise above.....

Hard to see how a slight reduction in CO2 in the lifetime equates to net zero?
Are you confusing tailpipe emissions with total Co2 emissions?
Or maybe you are just easily deceived?

BP to answer your concerns regarding royalties and to quash chucks argument. We have a messed up royalty regime because Canada is a capital starved country. Our retard residents invest in their homes and think that’s the economy.
So to draw in expertise and skills and equipment to deal without geological lottery as chuck puts it that means keeping taxes and royalties low.
In another version of this country one where a few don’t try to oppress the productive, Canada would have every resident owning shares in its primary industries.
But we are too backward for something like that. So in it goes.

As for EV’s, did you even read the article I posted? Even with $8000 of government subsidies most of the EV’s cost more to run simply because they cost more money to buy and the monthly payments outweighed the lower cost of fuelling the car.

Even if you charge with fossil fuel sourced electricity, large scale plants are more efficient than ICE engines so there is a reduction in emissions.
Canada currently has 60% of its electricity from hydro. Add in a growing share renewables and nuclear in Ontario and the amount of carbon free electricity is very significant.
Renewables are the cheapest way to generate lots of new electrcity. Storage is becoming a reality in EVs, ammonnia, hydrogen, grid batteries and gas can still used for backup when needed.
Alberta is leading the way on massive amounts of new renewable generation.

What happened to the net zero targets?
You are saying we can change the climate with only a small reduction in emissions?
Looks like a get rich scam with some Fat Cats taking all our money.
