One of the best lakes hands down consistently is Keely Lake here in the north west .
To be honest if you know when and where , Murray and Jackfish lakes just north of the Battlefords is excellent for both walleye and Pike
But it’s 5:30 am till 8 am or later evening for decent fish . But most people have no clue there, they don’t get up till 10 am and only get a few small pike during the day .
My best ever was McDougle Lake and 3 surrounding lakes 45 km north of Key Lake mine .
Was unbelievable for big Pike , walleye, and trout.
I was there a month ago and we had to quit at times to have a beverage, not even kidding. A lot of lakes the same that far north if you can get there . Need permission to even get into the huge Key Lake mine area .
Tobin is one place on my bucket list , go fish with Case IH , huge walleye.
I am sure several others will chime in , from many other lakes .
But that area north of Key Lake is amazing but hard to get too
Keely is accessible and always good for walleye and pike with the chance of big ones .
Just my take on fishin in this neck of the woods .
Green Lake just east of Meadow Lake is also good for walleye…. At times .
But you said best ever ….. so , Rock Lake …. Just west of McDougal 2 miles , simply outstanding

Sorry long winded, you caught my soft spot

If you want to come to nw Sask the world is your oyster. Imagine the east side is good too but if you like slough sharks and working for pickerel along with whites and the odd trout any lake here won’t disappoint.

Family has a cabin at Keely. Slough sharks are easy. Gotta drag past the docks for pickerel.

Whatever lake you choose always check the gut bin in the fish cleaning shack for signs of activity before you unload.

Gives you an idea of what to expect.

Hot August days can make for tough going if you don't know the spot.

The river by Nipawin Reginal Park to the mouth at the lake is as good as anywhere.

Might be a decent bite on as there were more outfits around than normal.

Like Furrow says the best time for Walleye is about when the sun is below the tree line, morning or evening.
