Catching up on Agriville today. Sorry no pictures. It was interesting to read the adventures harvesting clover.
I grew clovers in the late 80's during the times of the set aside programs in the USA. I grew double cut red clover. I swathed it and 40 acres took a week of combining with the old Versatile 5000. Go out at 1pm and quit at 5pm . Very difficult to thresh seed out of the bells. Had to be bone dry. Combine would be covered in dust 5 inches thick. Always had to watch for fire. Did harvest about 300 lbs/acre and sold for $1.35/lb. Second year yield was about 80 lbs/acre and the price dropped to about 35 cents.
I also grew some sweet clover which was a crop from hell to harvest. It was combined with the hulls on and i got enough to fill a 12x16 wood bin from about 15 acres. In true farmer fashion i refused 85cents /lb and held out until the next fall for 15 cents
