Fun chase this one. Ingredients all there in morning. Son gave me afternoon off.
Wanted to head north but was 3 1/2 hour drive or stay local only 2 hours.
Read the soundings look for dry air. tick tick
But i rally wanted river still tick tick.
Our roads not as organised as yours storm chasing can be tricky.
Really wanted to be about 6 miles from this location but wasnt sure.

Son was out doing something "am i gonna get zapped out in this" dad says "if you dont i will"

Had another chaser out probably about where left bolt is we caught up at a gas station and compared notes. He was at it since midday.

Nerves of steel and batshit crazy and coffee all ya need for storm photography. As the above got about a mile or two closer retreaated to safety of car and watched with cameras still going.

A large thundercell can hold an extraordinary amount of water. Upwards of a billion gallons in a single thundercell defys the term derived from Hermes Tristmagistus "gravitas". When the cells electromagnetic potential gets too great this gravitas defying energy seaks equilibrium to ground. No longer is the water and ice levitated but released resulting in a heavy down pour.

Nice pics Landdownunder, one thing that cannot be captured is the smell. Is there a better smell in the world than that of a fresh rain shower over our level plains?

How many here recognize this view?

Thinking that one predates my mf experience. 510?

My guess is a 510 also.
That view looks familiar for sure and my first combine was a 510.
750 or 760 might have been much the same view?
