Horse: You probably can remember the days of the NEP when the oil and gas business went through a major hit from the federal government? People lost their homes and businesses. Resource dependent communities were devastated. There were no jobs and nobody was buying...it wasn't just the oil field workers who got hurt but everyone in Alberta from the car dealerships to the retailers to the charities?
I would suggest another hit like that would be worse this time?
I have no doubt Ottawa will be coming again if the Liberals get elected...they have no choice really if they want to keep Quebec?
Will the Alberta people allow themselves to be ****d again?
I have rapped Ralph Klein several times here, but I do suspect his finest hour might be coming? I don't think Ralph will cave on this one? I don't think the people of Alberta will let him!

Ivbenconed Just because I see injustices in the system it dosent make me envious You are just calling out the same thing as the RACIST card that is supose to answer everything you dont agree with.
Cowman I know people that have had to sell and move because of the cost of energy does that make them any diferent than the oil workers that were over financed and ended up loosing thier homes.
My fatherinlaw was a push on the rigs in the NEP and he droped about 20% in wages but he still made app $50,000 so all all not to bad not as good as he was doing but OK.
Yes I cant see anyone wrth $1000 per day and more is that envy or gust comon sence , Would they still get that kind of money if oil hit $25 /barrel and if not then I submit they are not worth it now and as for your argument they save all this money why is it one day they are being watched and the next day they are watching someone else like a judge from an ambulance chaser to a judge who sudnly becomes as wise as solomom.

Well I don't quite see the problem of a highly effective person being paid by a private company for what he is worth? A decent lawyer gets $250/hour. A surgeon...who knows? Lots in that $500 K/year area? What kind of money a day does a Mario Lemieux get? To chase a puck around?
The market sets the price of oil and gas? The market also sets the price the companies pay their workers? If a drilling consultant is good at what he does, he can make/save that company millions? Therefore his value goes up?
I can't see where the problem is? Are you advocating wage and price controls or something? Those days when the state dictated these things are largely gone. We don't live in socialist heaven, yet?
