Special Constables

The Solicitor General is to make an announcement shortly regarding a pilot project where there will be special constables patrolling highways in three areas of the province.
These constables will be armed and have all the powers of the RCMP.
The thinking is that this will free up RCMP members to work on backlogs of files etc.

Probably a good place to start.
The mounties have got to the point where if it isn't murder they don't even try?
Quite often they seem to spend more time on traffic control than trying to solve break ins or theft? More important to pass out tickets to some old boy who never buckled up than worry about how some crack head stole your TV!
If they put some special constables out on the roads maybe they could deal with some of the crime in places like down town Red Deer, which is fast becoming a haven for drug dealers and violent criminals.

I agree. The latest musing by the Solicitor General is that he is considering putting these special constables at larger casinos as well.
I have never been to a casino but if they need constables there I guess I'll keep my distance.
