    Farming the government?

Perhaps this is the way to success? Get all the goodies available?
Now I'm no puritan here...hey if they offer it I'm sure not going to turn it down!...well within reason...I'm sure not going to jump through the hoops for little or next to nothing!
CAIS didn't work for me. I plowed through most of it and decided the only one who was going to make money on that deal was my accountant! NISA, on the other hand, was very good to me!
Crop insurance can be a money maker at times but I don't participate on my crop share land...told my cousin he could have the premiums and the money if he wished.
The Environmental Farm Plan might have made me a few bucks but I decided for the little bit I might get out of it, it wasn't worth kissing their butt.
Did alright on the set aside program and calf transition program.

Sorry the EFP doesnt do much for you, hasn't done too much for me either, saved a couple thousand dollars on stuff I was buying anyway. Thing here is if you were going to improve your farm by buying things like gps, fert bins, new style fuel tanks, soil tests, etc, why would you not want to take advantage of the free funds? After all its not like cais where you have to spend money to recieve money! EFPs are free to do! Dont need an accountant or anything just a few hours of your time/

farmers must start putting a value on their time, so doing the EFP is not free, but for many it is an excercise that has been worth some return.
