Got a cochlear implant finally qualified tis a interesting world at the moment.

Hearing in left ear meant to improve immensely been turned on for two weeks tuesday.

Very robotic.

Free in australia if you qualify and with help of private insurance from yep lets do it, to actual operation only a month. Public health system a short 18 month wait....

Surgeon did 7 the day i got done and 8 the day after.

Pros and cons and some risks and talked to many people. So after due dilligence went ahead. Weighed it up was having second thoughts at one stage.

So you won't be using eh as much.? Best of luck. My right ear hearing is 50 %. Could be as it closer to the exhaust.

Another reason i got it done the "free cochlear" was in place maybe 20 yrs ago conservative govt and talk is the current non conservative govt is looking at tightening the criterea. Hence why i went sooner rather than later. They prefer to send $$$ to save some rare monkey in a far flung place than look after people.....

Clients with:
severe to profound hearing loss in BOTH ears
get minimal or no benefit from conventional hearing aids
are medically suitable to receive an implant

What was % in other ear?

BP about 60% i believe i was getting on fine with HAs until it got suggested i might benifit. A few hoops to jump through to qualify and done.
Commonly only one ear gets do except one chap will keep it short.

This chap had brain tumour a round of surgery all good more surgery need 6 months later.
Had second round woke up couldnt hear. Specialists surgeons tests you name it to no avail had 8% only.
Last hope was cochlear they have "restored him to plus 65% of artificial hearing" unreal technology nowadays.

Other thing HA have to get replaced every so often 5 or 6k per throw whereas cochlear a one of just the outer bit every 4th year and can get funding for most of it depending on needs and private health cover.

im fully covered for laser surgery with my insurer and my "rolls royce" cover i took out years mid 20s . malaysia known a few people go over there for laser surgery successfully
