    Remembrance Day

We all need to take a moment of our time today to remember those brave individuals who fought for this great country Canada.

Heard an interesting fact this week about our great neighbors to the south of us. Nearly 9,000 Americans enlisted into the Royal Canadian Air Force to fight for Canada before the U.S. had officially entered the Second World War.

    850 never made it home

Yes, we need to remember now more than ever, as peace and freedom is eroded by the powers that be.

The rise of totalitarianism and wannabe dictators is reminiscent of the days before the second world War.

King Jesus of Nazareth, gave the ultimate sacrificeā€¦ without any evil or sin, Jesus gave his life for every single human who ever livedā€¦

Horrible how the wars blunder onward todayā€¦

Blessings to all, who gave so muchā€¦ for freedom, liberty, with mercy, grace and forgiveness.

May we as humanityā€¦ set aside arrogance, evil, deception, and greed.

True Love is wonderful! If we give it awayā€¦ we end up having more!!!

        Blessings and Peace

We went to the service in our local small town. It was good to see a huge turn out.
Our community has become quite multicultural in recent years, and one thing that stood out to me was how white the crowd was. Somewhat disappointed in that.

ya know my dad fibbed about his age to serve his country was a few months to young.

Told us story of how he had only i think 40% in his left eye and memorized the eye cahart at the medical again to make sure he could serve king and country,

After training in Australia Halifax and UK as rear gunner radio operator think training was near 18 months , was shot down on first mission over baltic sea tried to enter germany via the back door.

"Once the search lights locked on to us we were buggered" bailed out inflatable raft picked up by german uboat next day again quote "why they didnt shoot us on the spot we will never know"

Quick hospital stay i think in holland then "sunday school picnic happened for next 3 years".....

Said the interragation name rank serial number nothing else but dad said it was amazing the stuff they said and again rough qoute "how the heck did they know where i was from my parents name and that we were farmers etc etc" "knew auntis and uncles as well" lots of british traitors somewhere in the puizzle he thought

Great uncles lay in belgium and france as well from first world war. Grandfather did quite a tour north africa gallipoli and france was actually a road builder surveyor which meant going ahead of advancing forces looking for mines and best path foward "probably cause i was a lousy shot should have practiced on rabbits more he said"...

              enough from me

Oh and the german interragator dressed in uniform had a very very good english accent "but wasnt quite right" and dad was always housed with canadains south africans nz in prison camps hence his visit to and love of canadians.

His special friend a jew from montreal had a rough time "bastards used to bash him to point of death we would get him back to health with our meagre rations and they would do it all again to break us and him"

Another story "we used to get one loaf of rye maybe 8 inches by 4 every second day " had to be divided in 15ths " he who cut the loaf would get the last 15th piece so you made very sure nobody missed out and you got last piece"

he should have written a book had vivid recall. A guard got beheaded on day of liberation "i wasnt involved" came up in a book about 15 yrs ago "Geoff B arrived at camp gates on day of liberation with a bus he commandeered jump in boys were heading paris he was severely repramanded for sneaking out day before" dad said no sense of fun or adventure darn officers. So he was off stealing a bus when when "big stoop" got beheaded

About a week before liberation less and less german guards on duty they were deserting going back to familes or fleeing we knew something was up. We were meant to imprison them and reverse roles personally didnt worry about it let em go we wanna get home they had a job to do so did we.

                    Times change eh

Those are amazing stories Landdownunder, your father should have definitely written a book.

These are the types of stories we all need to hear from those who actually fought and suffered directly from wars.

Would be excellent education for history classes in schools.

                        Thanks

Another they were on "the long march" "we came across a recently mortared donkey or horse by side of the road, fresh meat we gorged out selfs not the smartest thing shit outselves for about a week body couldnt handle protien and or food poisining" tough men. Google "run up the road tychowo"
