[QUOTE=chuckChuck;n785391]Its a transition Hamloc, and many more renewable projects are coming in Alberta including storage. But dont let that stop you from saying renewables dont work!

Chuck2, the statement that wind and solar aren’t well suited to peak leads in the winter was Blake Shaffer’s statement not mine. The analysis showing the 13% capacity factor for solar was done by the AESO not me. I am simply relaying facts, you generally relay aspirational goals and computer models!!!

The AESO anticipates renewables will comprise 30 per cent of supply (not capacity) in the 2024-2026 time frame.

Based on the AESO forecast of what's in the planning and implementation chart it looks like that may indeed happen.

And the economists I quoted have already explained why prices are currently so high but you dont agree with these experts analysis?

Chuck2, what I said and what I showed about electricity prices was that the most expensive part of what I pay for electricity was and is transmission and distribution. I have shown you what I pay for electricity. What the economists are referring to is the Regulated Rate option. This rate is for the generation portion and fluctuates with market demand. It would be interesting to know what proportion of Albertan’s are still on the RRO option. Most people I talk to have locked in their generation portion as I have. The part I don’t agree with on the so-called experts analysis is as I stated my greatest cost, transmission and distribution, is not covered by their analysis. What is interesting is that wind and solar production is manipulated by weather and time of day and year. I have no doubt electricity generators manipulate production. Fertilizer producers manipulate supply. Grain companies manipulate basis. Machinery manufacturers manage supply to dictate price. Government regulates more and more of what will be available in the market place which than affects price. But as far as electricity, say whatever you want, quote whatever corporate aspiration you desire, the Fact is, solar and wind are intermittent. If we double the wind and solar capacity in Alberta there is no doubt there will be days when it supplies 50% of our electricity but there will also be days when it supplies less than 10%!!!!

Chuck2 you never responded to this post why?

So Hamloc you finally agree that Alberta electricity companies are cutting supply and jacking up prices really high to increase their profits. Progress Hamloc. But it took awhile.

Speaking of progress. I have been belittleing you for using the narcissistic LOL at the end of every sentence for years. It seems you have finally taken my advice, and have exchanged the LOL for emoji's.
It is definitely a step in the right direction. Congratulations

So says the hypocrite from Alberta!

Giving up again? Because you don't have another substantive response other than calling names and belittleing?

What happened to your phony plan to take the high road? You seem to like a lot of rules for a libertarian. But you forget to follow them yourself?

I think that a thread where Liberals are defending a CO2 tax as apositive for taxpayers is a suitable place for this.

You sure can't take a compliment very well. I was quite proud of your accomplishment.
Did you miss the post in the truce thread, where I let you know that the experiment was over, and I thanked you for your participation? We are long since back to usual, having proven definitively that your irresponsible behaviour is independent of how I respond.

Just curious what Chuck's opinion would be about this proposal.
Amid context of the ongoing climate emergency. Do you think mother nature can tell the difference between CO2 from indigenously produced oil and gas versus oil and gas produced by the evil capitalist corporations?

Canada's emissions cap will limit Indigenous oil and gas production and risk the progress many have been fighting for.
Call on Ottawa to exempt Indigenous oil and gas projects from the emissions cap.
