It's even easier than that.
In most cases, all the makers have to do is sit back down and say no.
Not hauling groceries, or gas or propane to the takers.
Not keeping the power plants operating.
Not keeping the roads maintained.
Not keeping the hospitals functioning.

Another percentage question for Chuck since he keeps making these blunders about comparing percentages.
Wind power now down to half a percent of name plate capacity. If past cold snaps are any indication, it will likely hit zero at some point. Only 2 wind farms were producing anything, Taber and Jenner.
So when wind production hits zero, how many percent more wind farms will Alberta need to meet our consumption? Consumption is currently at 11885 MW.

Wind and solar are much lower in cost than any other way to cut emissions so even with backup and storage systems they will be cost effective.

EVs can easily store excess renewable electricity.

""Today, we are at risk of having to use our emergency reserves based on what we're seeing with the forecast, with the grid, with demand being very high and very little renewable energy," he said.

Because of the record-breaking demand for power — and the potential for that record to be smashed again — AESO's communication manager says they have a message for Albertans.

"If you can, please conserve electricity between the peak demand period, which is from 4 to 7 p.m.," he said, adding that it's the "little things," such as not running the dishwasher or doing laundry during peak hours."

Solar could have had it's best day ever, but is of no value in the peak demand period.

i think all us folk in the real world need to seriously think about having another way to heat our homes , if this madness cant be stopped their an ever growing chance grid will go down when we need it most
