Norway actually has cheap electricity thanks to abundant hydro making electric cars genuinely cheap to operate. And their electricity is highly subsidized by Germany Denmark etc. who use Norway as their back up for their failed renewables experiment, paying Norway for electricity coming and going. Then as an added bonus, Norway has even more fossil fuels to export since they aren't burning them in their own fleets.

If that were the plan here, I could get on board. But the imbeciles in charge here genuinely think we are ending fossil fuels, do everything possible to stop ff exports, and refuse to allow any new hydro, and we don't have an insane neighbor who will pay us to take electricity , then buy it back at high prices.
On the current trajectory, We will have prohibitively expensive unreliable electricity, and no ff exports to pay for it all.

Just a short list off the cuff.
Inconveniences or worse that we have grown accustomed to about the use of petroleum based products and ice vehicles.

      1. Recent cold has brought to light block heaters, oil pan heaters, inline percolator heaters and all the associated fires, insurance costs etc. Also how many of us have driven away with the extension cord hanging on for miles or better yet yanking through wrecking your grille.

      2. Forgetting to put the fuel cap back on and losing it.

      3. Spilling fuel. We've all started to fuel up something with a big tank and walked away just for a minute only to remember and run back to find your hard earned wasted. Even auto shut off nozzles fail at times.

      4. Nowadays if you run out of fuel or park out of the way somewhere there's a growing chance you return to your vehicle minus the catalytic converter.

      5. Happens often someone puts diesel in the gas tank or vice versa.

      6. Used oils are carcinogenic.

      7. Tremendous waste and cost globally with engines idling in traffic or warming up.

      8. Notwithstanding co2, regular air pollution affecting the health of almost everyone.

      9. ICE vehicles 2000 moving parts.
      Evs around 20

      10. Fuel theft off your farm. Imagine that not happening.

None of these issues with evs.

I don't own one yet but I will within a couple years.

In Alberta they can barely can keep the lights on with a large amounts of deregulated very expensive electricity from gas. A couple of gas plants unexpectedly go off line and all hell breaks loose. And its all the fault of renewables?

Prices are through the roof because the utility companies also purposely cut supplies in times of surplus to drive up prices.

And if danny gets her way she will make sure cheaper lower cost renewables are sidelined as much as possible to increase gas usage and subsidize the most expensive source in nuclear.

Looks like your right again Chuck.
You must have seen on the CBC Alberta has 2700 MGW of gas coming on stream next yr?

            From Globe and Mail:

"More than 2,700 megawatts of new gas generation will fire up in 2024, according to most recent long-term adequacy report by the Alberta Electricity System Operator (AESO), which manages and operates the provincial power grid. The increase amounts to just over a quarter of Alberta’s current generating power being added to the grid in a single year."

"The bulk of the new electricity coming online is from three projects: The 900-megawatt Cascade plant in Edson, about 200 kilometres west of Edmonton; an 800-MW cogeneration project at Suncor Energy’s oil sands Base Plant; and the repowering of Genesee 1 and 2, a coal -to-gas conversion plant southwest of Edmonton, bringing just over 930 MW to the grid."

It is expected all that new cheap gas power will bring prices down to the 10 cents per Kwh range.
Cheap power is a key to a strong economy. Don't you agree?

Looks like Danny has things under control.

54 billion gallons, let that sink in.
That's the volume of jackfish lake furrow. That's the amount of fuel wasted by idling ice engines globally per year. Oh and don't eat the fish from it either. Unsafe levels of farm chemicals from run off.

She had nothing to do with gas plants that were planned several years ago.

So with prices so low renewables are going to be used as much as possible because once built their fuel costs are zero.

Danny doesn't poll well in any other province that matters! She barely won Alberta in a close battle with Rachel Notley and the NDP!
