Central Europe's farmers are angry over what they call unfair competition from abroad, particularly Ukraine, after an EU decision in 2022 to waive duties on Ukrainian food imports.

Ukrainian grain is allegedly harming other EU countries, such as Germany, at a time when Polish agricultural products are losing their share in these markets. "If I protested today, I would block another border. I don't want to imply to anyone here, but Poland has imposed an embargo on products from Ukraine, which worries us the most. At the same time, we also see protests in Germany and voices of German farmers that they do not want these products from Ukraine, but the government has not imposed an embargo on these products.
