Most prairie soils were much higher in organic matter prior to agriculture. And zero tillage has been a big benefit to soil health and sequestering some carbon. But it will probably never get back to the levels before cultivation where perennial grasses built up organic matter over thousand of years.

And soil organic matter continues to release carbon in the carbon cycle.

But the difference is all the previously stored CO2 that has come from and continues to come from fossil fuels. That's the carbon emission source we have to reduce.

India’s Prime Minister Modi was applauding his countries success the other day. He was ecstatic that India had mined 1 billion tonnes of coal in the 2023-2024 production year. How much affect has Canada’s carbon tax had and our energy policy as a whole on India? In 2015, India consumed roughly 820 million tonnes of coal, now over a billion!

Is there a record of OM and nutrients from 1900? It was mined until the 70s or 80s here. But in my career, fields I've covered from then till now aren't recognizable compared to then.
I'm interested in your soil test records pre agriculture. Anything on the history of soils is interesting.

Well at least if you are a G7 country you keep preaching.

The rest of the world (ROTW) just looks for opertunity to improve the lifestyle of thier people.

Climate change only comes up when money is promised and the big promises arn't coming thu because G7 economies can't keep up with thier own waste and BS.

Yes we certainly at present have a better average standard of living than a citizen of India. But if we give Trudeau enough time he will certainly fix that as our productivity in Canada continues to decline under his leadership.

As for emissions per capita, we live in a climate that is frozen 5-6 months of the year while at the same time we are a large exporter of natural resources, making energy more unaffordable isn’t a pathway to a prosperous future!

Per capita emissions is a marketing number for the guilt motivated. Misleading.
Noble intentions are fine but what's unclear are who will be left to judge.
