Poilievre Campaign, Oil sands exec. Alex Pourbaix gave $1,600 to CPC fundraiser.

Pierre is a man of the little guy! Wrong!

He is courting the financial and oil industry elite in exclusive fundraisers in Banff and promising them he will let them keep emitting massive amounts of carbon and fleecing consumers and taxpayers whenever they can.

Its nice work if you can get it.

Poilievre who has never had a real job outside of politics, collects his $300,000 per year salary and says he wants to stand up for the little guy on affordability, while he courts elite oil excutives who took home massive profits and bonuses from high oil and gas prices? Priceless! The irony and sludge runs deep!

"For the past year and a half an industry group called the Pathways Alliance has been running national ads claiming oil sands producers are climate leaders “on the road to net zero.”

But federal records newly reviewed by DeSmog reveal that the group’s co-founder has personally donated to the Conservative Party of Canada, whose leader Pierre Poilievre is campaigning to abolish (https://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/poilievre-non-confidence-motion-carbon-tax-1.7149637) the country’s most prominent climate policy, a nationwide tax on carbon emissions, saying it brings “misery and suffering on the Canadian people.”

Alex Pourbaix, executive chairman of the Calgary-based oil sands company Cenovus, made a $1,600 donation to the Conservative Party the day after attending a private fundraiser (https://www.elections.ca/fin/reg/pdfs/295-report.pdf) last year entitled “An evening with Pierre Poilievre,” contributions data on the Elections Canada site show. The maximum allowable donation was $1,700."

The fundraising event, which was originally reported on by The Breach (https://breachmedia.ca/poilievre-fundraiser-lobbyist-conservatives/), took place at a private residence in the mountain resort town Banff, Alberta, on April 11, 2023. It was promoted by (https://web.archive.org/web/20230405174355/https:/www.conservative.ca/events/) the Conservative Party as a “Bring it Home fundraiser with Pierre Poilievre.”?

Chuck2 what is interesting is that only individuals not corporation can make political donations in Canada. Now My farm is a corporation but as an individual I certainly intend to donate to the federal Conservative party. As a chairman of an Alberta grain farm does this mean you would find me donating to support the federal conservatives somehow improper? As an chairman of an Alberta oil company I would be surprised if Alex Pourbaix didn’t donate to the federal conservatives. If he had donated to the federal Liberals would this be an issue for you Chuck2? He is lobbying the federal Liberals for subsidies in relation to carbon capture, wouldn’t this be more improper?!

As far as a political leader who has never had a job outside of politics , I think our current leader is a real good candidate for that. ( drama teacher , part time , Really ? ) Trudeau couldn't book Lassie into a dog show!!! I know you hate Pollievre Chuck , and that's fine , But he is a better leader than the idiot that Ontario and Quebec hung us with for 9 years. Maybe we should demand all of our transfer money back as a penalty?

As far as catering to the oil sands , or the resource industry in this country , is that not better than trying to shut it down?

Case you missed it , the resource industry pays a lot of bills in this country and eastern Canada has loathed us for this for 50 plus years now , kind of ties in with the last Trudeau government , now that I think of it !!

Chuck you can hate the Conservatives all you want , but the idiots we have in Ottawa since 2015 have got to be the worst buffoons in this countries history. This country is in serious trouble , and another 4 year term of Justin and his merry cabinet , and western separation will be cranked up to a full boil , and you know it bud.

We have not one single thing to lose other than the Liberal noose around western Canada's neck.

I'm sure SNC Lavalin or Lafarge has never given a dollar to the Lib party, or any party in either Quebec or Montreal, or any leader thereof, or their extended families. Ever.
That statement isn't personal. Try it sometime. Original and concise as well.
Responses to which are not demeaning to intelligence or time, quite unlike cut and paste articles alone.

Just answer me this Chuck.
Who do you think would make a better candidate?
Person A who was adopted and raised by a couple of Saskatchewan school teachers and is raised with a modest Saskatchewan teachers wage.
Most likely put himself through University with student loans and then rising to the top position of major political party.

Person B Born into unbelievable wealth. Schooled in private schools. Playboy and partying all through University and unable to hold a job in the real world and doesn't have to because his wealth. Chosen to lead a major political because of his name.

Just a simple answer with no cut and pastes and no insults.

Unions haul wheelbarrows of money to the NDP party and probably Liberal, too. That’s OK, heh?

They don't deny climate change and court the oil and gas industry.

Experts are now saying that peak oil demand is around 40 yrs away so doesn’t it make sense as future leader in Canada to consult with the oil industry. Chuck get your head out of sand and realize that the energy sector is going to be a big part of our economic future.

Trump comes from humble beginnings?
Poilievre has a history of high flying business dealing in Real estate and the party life that goes with that lifestyle?
I don’t see how they are even remotely alike.

Donating to common sense government way better than donating to Trudope Foundation.
