For the sake of discussion, let's pretend that this value is actually correct.

The official rate of inflation in Canada 2.8%. so, if the CO2 tax is causing .6% inflation, then that is 21% of inflation coming from the CO2 tax. And it just went up will be higher than that now.

A lot of these statistics are purposefully misleading. They are aimed at the low information crowd such as Chuck who don't understand how simple concepts such as percentages work.

Trevor Tombe evidently isn’t much of an economist. He does not qualify his opinions by emphasizing the fact that there are consequences to taxes due to1. Multiplier Effect and 2.Crowding-Out. Furthermore economists tend to disregard the fact that unfair taxes cause psychological distress. These unfair taxes are imposed on innocent targets that have no way to avoid the extra costs. This continuous stress has far-reaching consequences on families when costs of everything are increasing. People interviewed wonder why they are being punished in a country that causes no damage to the atmosphere and has no effect on carbon levels while the countries who are Carbon producers expand their Carbon producing industries yet they have no taxes. We are the sacrificial lambs for no good end.

But then you completely dismiss the inflation caused by rising market prices for oil? Huh?

The carbon tax is very small compared to the subsidies and wealth transfer to the petro elites in the world!

But you don't want to talk that do you?

I suspect Jagger Singh has probably seen the light. He likely has been lectured about the,”real” damage; the actual cost of the tortuous tax with tax on it that is piled onto every consumer purchase again and again and again. People aren’t all stupid. They call BS to Tombe and his .6%. Stuff it Chuck, you are dead wrong and you only need to read the comments from real people in National Post to realize that 80%(at least) call BS.
