I just wanted to bring the rail strike to the attention of our members who were opposed to anyone who opposed the tyranny during covid.
The same tired argument we kept hearing from The usual suspects was how the protesters had no right to obstruct commerce by blocking infrastructure. Emergency act, prisons sentences without trial etc were all justified.
Because none of them wish to be known as hypocrites, I assume they will all come out to publicly condemn the labor unions who are holding the Canadian economy hostage while they protest.
If temporarily obstructing border crossings and setting up bouncy castles in Ottawa justified turning the country into a police state, jailing people indefinitely without charges and without bail, blocking bank accounts, destroying their property, horse trampling grandmothers etc. then I can't imagine what actions they will propose against the Union railroad workers who will be causing far more economic disruption with their protest.
Chuck, forage, agstar, any comments?Last edited by AlbertaFarmer5; Aug 13, 2024, 17:37.

I apologize in advance. The posters in question don't yet know what their opinion should be on this matter. I just checked the nfu website and they haven't yet told their members what they should think about the rail strike. I'm sure they will, after all, they came out in favor of the federated co-op strike.
They are obviously too busy making press releases about climate change to notice issues that actually affect farmers.

I really shouldn't compare the two.
The convoy participants wanted to go to work, but were prevented by authoritarian mandates.
The railroad workers ( or should I say the union), chose to leave their job by their own will.
No one would negotiate with the convoy participants, no one would even hear their concerns.
The negotiators have bent over backwards to try to appease the railroad strikers.

The rail roads are planning to lock out the workers. Try to get the facts straight!
But of course the anti union bashers don't understand that unions and employers are within the law when negotiating a new contract.
Unlike the the illegal occupation and border blockades that were not within the law.
Let the collective bargaining process work before declaring that workers are at fault.

So far, two out of the three who I asked have so far chosen hypocrisy.
So economic disruption by labour unions = good.
Economic disruption by anyone outside of unions = bad.
