On this issue, I happen to agree with you that in the event of an actual deadly pandemic, the good of society should take precedence over the individual. We would most likely disagree over who should wield such powers and what limits they should have, and who decides when such powers are justified, but on principle, we are on the same side that this would be necessary.

You are claiming that there is some legal precedent for overriding the charter. That is where I am disagreeing with you because I am not aware of any such legislation.

Where did I say that? Self evident like the sky is blue. You don't need a written law.

You might want to reflect on the implications of that statement.
Keeping in mind that your chosen political party may not always be the one in power. And the cause that they used to justify their usurpation of power may not be one that you support next time.

You should know by now I do not identify with any party. Call them like I see them.

That in itself is bad enough, but if you read agStars post above, he says we don't even need laws to take away freedoms.

How do we the people fight back against an authoritarian tyrant who doesn't think the existing legal system applies to him?

Yes, I can tell by reading your posts that you along with newguy are still carefully evaluating the policy positions of the PPC party versus the NDP and deciding which one to vote for next year.

You definitely come across as the swing voter type.
