Sad thing is many buy the sky is falling mantra. Coming off the red scare of the Cold War fearing a nuke strike and a commie hiding behind the bush to this ‘existential’ threat people are easily feared into anything with adequate messaging. Joe McCarthy and Hoover wrecked the lives of many on their witch hunts for commies and are looked back upon with disdain. I would guess the biggest demagogues of the current crisis will probably be viewed the same as well.

So wheat yields going up since 1908 is a sign the climate change isn't happening?
So it had nothing to do with better varieties, better farming practices and increased fertilzer use?
And climate is measured in 30 year segments not 5.
But it's interesting to see how the 5 year deficit in moisture and hotter and dryer summers is causing more drought losses in the southern prairies.

The 5 year records from Betzte clearly show that all those locations across the Prairies are reporting well below average precipitation most years.
And drought cycles and variability occurs naturally.
But we are already seeing more extreme weather events with relatively small changes.
And the climate scientist are saying these extreme events will become more intense and frequent.
Deny human caused climate change all you want, just don't expect taxpayers to bail you out all the time while you say the climate isn't changing.Last edited by chuckChuck; May 3, 2024, 07:28.
