Subsidies to large farms ends up fueling the larger farms domination and control over more and more land pushing smaller family farms out.
Would your 6000 acre farm be considered as large , or is it 6050 where is cutoff?

It will depend on the region and type of agriculture in deciding which farms to support.

There is no need to give taxpayers money to large successful farms that don't need it to succeed.

For that matter, why would any size of successful farm need to be subsidized?

And if a farm or any other business is not successful, why would you subsidize a failure? How would that make the industry more efficient and more competitive against our South American and FSU competition?

What you are suggesting, looks like you want to reward the least efficient and punish the most effective business people, is that correct?

Do you think that will make the industry more or less efficient?

Why do windmill farms, EV’s or Solar panels need subsidies? If they are so great my tax dollars are not necessary.

Think Crop comes from Ireland so I think he probably has more intimate knowledge of the situation in Europe than you.

Are you suggesting that I shouldn't hold my breath waiting for an intellectual economic response to my questions from the poster whose entire grasp of economics consists of justifying solar panels because they cost about the same as a new pickup truck?

I think it's amusing to occasionally treat him like an adult and ask serious questions. The childish responses, or complete lack of responses reveals all we need to know.

So are you guys and Pierre Poilivere suggesting farmers not get any more subsidies and that we end supply management?

I can't wait to hear that from PP. There will be a lot of whining with a plan like that.

Smaller farms with low income can't compete with large more profitable farms that have access to more capital because of economies of scale.

If you want stronger rural communities and more farmers, don't subsidize larger farms that don't need it. That only increases the disparity.
