..that's not exactly the argument, it would be more like we have set up a system where there's an abundance of research money for studies that confirm a certain line of thinking and that in turn develops more research money only for studies that confirm a certain line of thinking. This is similar but not the same as pharmaceutical companies funding research that only confirms a desired outcome.....hope this helps

...i was not aware that the middle east countries were investing billions and trillions in green energy and I certainly don't have it figured out but as a non scientist I do have one way of assessing "the facts". That is to look at past predictions. How many of these past predictions have come true?
Green areas shrinking?
Ice reduced?
Sea level rise?
Storms bigger and more frequent?
Coral reefs disappearing?
Polar bears going extinct?
Temperature increasing (not from sun and heat island effect)

Middle Eastern countries are not investing in green energy to save emissions. And they are certainly not doing so to reduce their fossil fuel production. Their investment in renewable energy is the proverbial drop in the bucket compared to their ongoing investments in future fossil fuel production. Saudi around gold and OPEC both forecast fossil fuel energy consumption continuing to increase for decades to come.
Aside from the obvious window dressing, a desert country without winter has peak energy demand for air conditioning and things like irrigation. For which solar is actually well matched. Why would they burn valuable fossil fuels which can be exported, when they also have reliable well matched solar resources.
None of the above applies to the situation in canada.

A question for newguy. Over the course of the years that this 30 billion will be used to bribe and buy influence with African nations, under the guise of alternative energy, how many multiples of that will the UAE spend on increasing their fossil fuel output? They already committed to increasing their fossil fuel output quite drastically.
