Indian capital swelters as temperature hits all-time high of 52.9 Celsius

NEW DELHI, May 29 (Reuters) - Delhi recorded an all-time high temperature of 52.9 degrees Celsius (127.22 Fahrenheit) on Wednesday as extreme heat conditions gripped the north and western parts of India, causing students to faint in schools and drinking water taps to dry up.

A heat wave alert (https://www.reuters.com/world/india/indias-northwest-braces-more-heatwaves-amid-elections-2024-05-21/) has been in place for large parts of India since last week but on Wednesday the temperature in Mungeshpur, a densely packed corner of Delhi, crossed the 50 C mark, the weather office said.

The Indian capital has had temperatures of over 45 C in previous years but never gone as high as 52.9 C.

Streets in Mungeshpur in northwest Delhi were deserted and most shops were shut as people stayed indoors to avoid the searing heat, while residents handed out free cold drinks in Narela after temperatures went up to 49.9 C on Tuesday.

"When we go outside it seems like someone is slapping our faces. It has become difficult to live in Delhi," said resident Akash Nirmal.

India Meteorological Department (IMD) said it is examining the data and sensors to look into Mungeshpur's temperature which was an outlier compared to other stations.

"There is so much heat in Delhi that students are fainting, some are falling sick, some are facing dehydration. The students are facing a lot of trouble in this heat. The fans don't work in our institutions," said Nidhi, a student, who gave only their first name.

Hmmm, then for the rest of the story…… not just a single day anomaly

So how many record setting high temperatures do we need to see around the world broken by a lot, until the flat earthers admit climate change is real?

Did they set a record low in Chile? Nope only the coldest May in 74 years.

At last you both agree that things are more extreme.

Pop quiz Chuck
A Single temperature station on a single day, is that climate or weather?

If you aren't certain about the answer, you could check some of your recent lecture notes, you have covered this topic repeatedly in your daily lectures.

Isnt there a large and growing body of scientists that believe global warming could actually trigger an ice age?
so.. yeah. There could be an ice age after Idaho freezes.

Also,

Hahahahh chuck you suck

THE IMD ( indian meteorological department) is now calling that temp an outlier and is inspecting the SENSOR ITSELF as 14 stations actually recorded a temp decrease with no others recording above 50! THE AVG was between 45 and 49.... but run with that news story! Run forrrest run!

hahhaha do some.homework

You.muppet.

Also, im not saying that it isnt a record heatwave or denying climate change. BUT just like the israeli bomb on the hospital a few months ago that nobody waited for the.prooof... ( it wasnt israel...whoops...it was the palestinian islamic jihad) ...
We need to wait for confirmation on all this stuff.

Also chuck sucks.

Dollars to donuts that temperature transmitter was located and recorded that single day temperature record on a asphalt tarmac directly located in the sun. Scewed data to controle a narrative

I'm Trying to understand your perspective. You don't see any thing wrong with a theory called global warming that can be credited with causing both both warm and cold temperatures? Drought and floods? Snow and no snow?

If a snake oil salesman came to your farm trying to sell you their latest miracle product.
This fantastic product will drought proof your crops. You counter that actually we have the opposite problem, it is too wet right now. So the salesman promptly changes the sales pitch to this product will allow your crops to survive underwater. Then you say that it won't matter if they can survive underwater because it's supposed to freeze tomorrow night and the salesman once again changes the sales pitch to promising that his snake oil will make your crop freeze proof as well. Meanwhile you hear on the radio that there's a plague of locusts heading your direction. And what a big surprise, this product also locust proofs your crop. You just need to apply more for every layer of protection you want to get from it, and the price goes up each time.

Would you be a willing buyer? Or does that sound too good to be true?

Where I’m standing right now, the ice was once a mile thick. Giant Lizards also roamed here because it was so hot. The climate has always been changing. We are still in the warmup phase from the last ice age.

Carbon in the atmosphere won’t kill us all. But the Yellowstone Volcano in its next eruption surely will. Enjoy the weather while you still can.

Giant Lizards? Huh? You mean dinosaurs?
Did you study giant lizards in school?

When are you expecting the next ice age to start?

Because there is no evidence that there will be one coming anytime soon with the planet warming at a rate that is unprecedented in the last 200 years. 90% of the warming has gone into the oceans.

And there are no credible scientists who even say cooling is an issue. Quite the opposite.

Imagine what happens we have more or less a permanent El Nino?

Follow the signs. And beware of giant lizards!
