A long ways from net zero.

Will never happen as the money is spent .
All on Debt financing now with zero ROI as they are just replacing functional plants.
If you spend billion with no increase in productivity does that cause inflation and reduce per capita productivity to the lowest in the G20?

I've been checking occasionally today. Solar peaked out at 1300 out of 1650 capacity.
Wind never got above 0.5% of its own capacity.
Gas provided approx 85% of generation all day.

Hmmm , just when peak demand eh ?

So the solar is not producing either in all the summer sun? How come you forget about solar? Early onset?

Its not one or the other when disusing renewables and other sources. There are 365 days in the year and you need to measure their annual output and contribution to lowering carbon emissions.

Wind and solar have the the lowest LCOE for new capacity.

But you will always find an excuse to say they don't work nor have any value!

Lowest LCOE for wind and solar for new capacity. Alberta has 4748 megawatts of installed wind generation capacity. Right now it is producing 34 megawatts. What is it costing to produce those megawatts really? The remaining 4716 megawatts have to come from another generation source!!! Is this reality lost on you Chuck2?!?!

You can always find periods when intermittent renewables aren't producing anything.

                    Everybody knows they are intermittent.

But when they are producing they are displacing electricity from fossil sources with no fuel costs.

They don't need renewables to be the entire source of electricity to be cost effective and reduce CO2 emissions.

You need to look at what their impact is over the whole year.

In the push to reduce greenhouse gases from fossil fuels it is not just renewables vs fossil fuels and other sources. It will be all sources working together.

Our solar PV system covers our average annual usage. We often produce more than we use which supplies other customers. And our cost per kwh is lower than Sask Power's farm rate.

Such low cost! Worthless if not producing when needed like cold dark calm winter nights. Hot calm summer days….but enjoy your average annual, freezing and boiling!

                      Grow up! Think , reason!

first elephant in room is we don’t need to reduce C02!
