A5, So Sask Power doesn't have real world results and numbers from their grid in Saskatchewan when they compare the costs of new gas plants and wind and solar?

And Lazards LCOE research is based on actual costs in the US.

Good advice from Furrow A5, get back to work and come up with something other than silly arguments!

If this so called green renewable energy was so cheap and cost efficient we wouldn’t need to search the numbers, the numbers would be in our faces constantly, hide the numbers and its pretty easy understanding why.

So do you know what all the numbers are when you pay for electricity?

The cost of generation is only part of the cost.

And Sask Power have clearly said wind and solar have low generation costs.

Good news Chuck, we finally found some dry grain yesterday and will be busy with harvest now. Which means I have lots of opportunities to pick on you while combining, or unloading trucks etc. Been busy with repairs lately, and neglected my duty to combat your misinformation.

So have you or Lazards, found a jurisdiction where the consumers are enjoying lower power prices thanks to adding wind and solar? Or still just making baseless claims without any evidence?

So you are admitting again to being a troll?

A pretend libertarian who has nothing better to do than pick on people?

Quite the admission for a guy who sets pretend rules for Agrisilly but has no plans to follow them!

Sask Power has broken your false claims that wind and solar generation are high priced and now you are going to just be a troll?

Yes chuck, I am your own personal troll. I only troll you, or anyone who comes to your defense when you make indefensible claims or behaviors.
You seem to enjoy it because you keep coming back for more.

I really want to believe that renewable energy is cost effective, I’ve played around and built windmills but when every kilowatt of renewable needs to be backed up with a reliable base load and nobody seems to know the true cost of renewable energy it’s pretty hard believing renewables are the cheapest way or most efficient way forward.

Sask Power knows the cost of renewables and other generation sources because they have built and deployed them with more plans in the works.

Only the pretend libertarian troll from Alberta won't accept claims from Sask Power.

A5 is a sore loser!

If SaskPower knows the cost of generating all forms of electricity why is it hidden?

Comment

Huh?

Lazard has the numbers for the US which more or less show the comparison. They are not hidden.

You can also ask Sask Power if you want.

So which US states are enjoying cheaper electricity thanks to wind and solar?

Surely you can find a real world example that backs up what Lazard claims.

Who should I call at SaskPower?
im just saying if all this “green energy” is so cost efficient we’d be seeing the numbers.

Tsipper, you can call the customer service line.

And A5 is there any place on earth where electricity prices, regardless of their generating sources, are not going up?

Generation costs are only a portion of system costs so unless you have system analysis you can't tell what is increasing the costs.

Sask Power has clearly said the lowest cost new generation sources are wind and solar.

Some of cheapest sources are existing renewables are hydro from Quebec and Manitoba.

Both Texas and North Dakota have very significant amounts of wind energy.

Among renewable energy sources in Texas, wind power is the most produced, actually leading the entire country in wind energy generation.
According to a study referenced in the Dallas News (https://www.dallasnews.com/news/2022/10/18/study-solar-and-wind-energy-saved-texas-customers-more-than-7-billion-in-2022-so-far/), in 2022 solar and wind energy saved consumers over $7 billion, due to the lower operating costs of wind and solar projects compared to traditional fossil fuel-based power plants. And the Texas Association of Business) states that not only does renewable energy contribute greatly to our state’s economy – including a remarkable forecast of $16.7 billion in local tax revenue – it also benefits residents and businesses when it comes to energy prices. Estimates made in 2022 predicted that ERCOT market costs will decrease by up to $11 billion per year, thanks to new renewable energy production.
