Another rural intersection takes its toll. SE of Regina yesterday afternoon a loaded farm semi collided with a farm pick up with 55 year old driver. State of 55 year old was dire last night. Semi driver from local colony was also taken in by ambulance. Be vigilant, slow down at every intersection and check both directions - twice.

And in reality, when you consider the gravity of the consequences, it doesn't matter who was at fault .
I was asking my truck drivers to slow down.
Then I switched to truck driving, first load, fully loaded a small car blew through a stop sign out of a blind no exit road right in front of me, I was going slow enough we avoided each other. Next day bringing a combine through the same intersection and another pickup blew right through the stop sign from the blind intersection right in front of me.

Complacency gets everyone.
Last month I almost got ran off the highway by a local farmer pulling off of gravel. I know exactly what he was doing, a farmer stop, didn’t see anyone coming, so started to give’r instead of coming to a complete stop with a semi. I was in his blind spot and he was at the yellow line before he seen me. Think he probably pooped himself a little.
Luckily you could see it coming so I was over onto the gravel road on the other side, but if it was someone just assuming he’d stop, it could’ve been really bad.
I don’t know how often I’m starting to just assume someone isn’t going to stop, even at highways, but it’s definitely becoming the more common assumption.

Be safe everyone. Can never be too careful. Think we’ve all lost friends and family from senseless road accidents. Years ago when we were kids I had a friend plow into the side of a gravel truck and get killed. Following year another friend got thrown from a truck and eventually died. Stuff burns into your mind that 30 years later you’re still cautious.
