Your incoherent rambling probably doesn't justify a response, but I am curious about your grasp of History, so I'll ask anyways.

Which former Soviet leader are you referring to? The Ukrainian Bhreznev? The Ukrainian Khruzshchev? The Georgian stalin?

Yup and Alberta has a strong economy too, similar to Texas.

Primarily because with government subsidies and incentives they developed one of the most important and highly valuable resources of the 20th century.

It's now the 21st century and climate change is one of the biggest threats to the world economy and demand for oil.

And guess what, you got all your eggs in one basket and you have gone from boom to bust for many decades without saving almost any of the one time resource revenue like the true fiscal conservatives have in Norway. Even Alaska does a better job of managing resource income.

Are you sure Alberta will survive with a strong economy into the 22nd century when Albertan and Prime Minister Harper said Canada will stop burning fossil fuels for energy by the year 2100?
By then the oil well and tar sands clean up liability bill could be a trillion dollars and Alberta could be a have not province if they don't diversify the economy.

The lenders and shareholders to the oil industry should be on the hook for that liability which will bankrupt the province the way it’s going!
You do realize Harper may be right …… 75 years from now

An admission by Furrow that Harper's G7 commitment to end the burning of fossil fuels by 2100 is probably right!

        Hell just froze over!

To get there we will need to transition by reducing fossil fuel use over the next decades. How fast that transition will occur is not clear. But it looks like Furrow agrees the transition is coming and well underway.

Like wise Alberta and Saskatchewan premiers say they can get to net zero electricity generation by 2050. Only 25 years away.

In all these cases these Conservative leaders must accept that climate change is real and a threat, otherwise they would be doing nothing.

So when are the rest of you skeptics and deniers going to accept the science and admit that CO2 causes climate change?

Europe is currently enjoying the highest electricity prices they've had since the peak of 2022. Apparently destroying all of those fossil fuel and nuclear plants and replacing them with wind doesn't work when the wind stops blowing.

The Germans even have a word for this.

And now today Germany’s government has collapsed. Hmmm can’t seem to get government’s finances in order.

So high energy prices in Europe have nothing to do with Russia's invasion of the Ukraine and the transition away from Russian gas and oil to more expensive supplies? LOL

Of course the only reason is renewable energy! According to the arm chair libertarian expert in Alberta who now wants to pick winners and losers instead of letting the market decide!

The flat earthers want to ignore free market Texas, where wind and solar are being chosen over other more expensive options because of economics!

And Crop is looking forward to the neo nazi and far right parties in Germany coming to power.

              Just another day on Agrisilly!

Let me get this straight, I pointed out on an earlier post that Germany’s economy hadn’t experienced any growth for 2 years. Now Germany’s government is in disarray because the Chancellor fired the finance minister and you quite wrongly suggest, while calling me Crop at the same time that I am looking forward to neo nazi and far right parties in Germany coming to power?! I believe it is fairly obvious who has a tenuous grip on reality and is being silly and it isn’t me!!!

My mistake it was your post not Crop's

Germany's economy is collateral damage because of Russia's illegal invasion of the Ukraine and the impact on energy supplies.

And many farmers in Germany are leaning towards the far right fringe anti immigrant parties. Just like in Canada and the US.

So you can deny it all you want but it is a political reality.

I am not denying that Farmers in Germany and other European countries are objecting to the overbearing policies being imposed on them by the present governments. Mark Rutte in the Netherlands resigned for this reason(nothing to do with Ukraine), now Olaf Scholz is in a similar pickle in Germany. But you are accusing me of being a supporter of far right fringe parties, certainly not true. Am I a supporter of getting rid of Justin Trudeau as Prime Minister?! Absolutely!! Americans tossed the Democrats because they didn’t feel better off today than they did 4 years ago, that simple. I am sure the same will happen in Canada. Incumbent governments are being voted out because policies they have imposed have not made lives better.

                      IT IS The Economy Stupid.
                      Doesn't matter politics.
The uneconomical energy transition Strategy is failing. As is universal global trade. The other stuff is collateral. The current wars inevitable.
Not the last time this will be forgotten.

Less so in Canada and the US.

But far right hate groups are going to have a field day with Trump enabling them.

On the political reality theme what do you expect to happen at the upcoming climate conference?
They need a lot more money to support the poor countries in order to achieve the goals.
                          Trillions per year?
Many of the leaders from the largest economies are going to be no shows.
                          What do you think Chuck.
Lots of proclamations but no action?

The climate crisis seems to be low on the list of priorities for everywhere except Canada?
