Maybe, but I have to think something strategic at play as well.
Market advantages for Tesla and SpaceX perhaps.
Intolerance for Emperors with No Clothes thinking already proven.

Historically, previous success doesn't indicate future success.
And success does not go hand in hand with morals. Only the right gifts at the right time and place.
The definition of success in the contemporary can be terribly blurred.
Our current federal party leaders prove this. Successful really at only walking and chewing gum simultaneously. And working the current system and situation.
Only history proves out.

If however, a grounding in reality were applied as a measure concurrently, I'd be sceptical of JT or Singh being judged favorably.

X is home of free speech when Musk blocks and suspends accounts of his critics? What a laugh!!

Pass the koolaid! BP and A5 want another sip! LOL

https://www.forbes.com/sites/markjoyella/2024/01/09/elon-musk-silencing-his-critics-as-journalists-are-suspended-by-x/

Elon Musk Accused Of ‘Silencing His Critics’ As X Suspends Journalists

X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, suspended a number of high-profile journalists Tuesday, including Steven Zetti of the Texas Observer and Ken Klippenstein of the Intercept. The pages for each of the suspended accounts offers no explanation for their removal and does not say if the suspensions are temporary or permanent bans. Each page carries a short message that “X suspends accounts which violate the X rules.”

“I haven't received any communications from Twitter/X about why I have been suspended,” Monacelli, who has 72,000 followers on X, told Motherboard (https://www.vice.com/en/article/5d948x/x-purges-prominent-journalists-leftists-with-no-explanation). “I can't think of anything I've posted lately that would be worthy of suspensions. Although I have written multiple critical reports about Twitter/X and Elon Musk.” Klippenstein, who has more than 497,000 followers on X, recently reported on Musk (https://www.kenklippenstein.com/p/elon-musk-discussed-ai-with-israeli) in a story headlined “Elon Musk Discussed AI With Israeli Military as It Uses AI to Bomb Gaza.”

Kendra Barnett, senior reporter at The Drum, pointed a finger directly at Musk, saying in a post on X (https://twitter.com/KendraEBarnett/status/1744759783595348414) that “Elon Musk is silencing his critics on X again, including The Intercept's Ken Klippenstein & Texas Observer's Steven Monacelli. It’s another ironic move from the billionaire, who has described himself as a “free speech absolutist.”

“If you are one of those people who actually believe that Elon Musk is a principled champion of free speech, then you maybe one of the dumbest people to have ever walked the earth,” said former MSNBC host (https://twitter.com/mehdirhasan/status/1744747855904907426) Medhi Hasan on X, one of several high-profile journalists taking to the platform to accuse Musk of censorship.

But you don't mind if Trump and Musk trample on freedom of speech and censor and bully their critics?

Different pipers. Different platforms. It has always been so, just more obvious, with social media and choice. What is somewhat novel is the increasing percentage of individuals who no longer rely on mainstream media for news. And that's why censorship of social media is a popular tool amongst rulers. Elon is also a ruler now.

Chuck accuses me of Cherry picking the shortest day of the year when wind and solar often go to zero.
This evening, just 25 days past the fall equinox, both wind and solar have been at zero for hours.
At least it's not cold.

Info Wars, the Rebel type sites are not reporting the news and facts like mainstream journalists, they are spreading their narrow one sided opinions and views at best and blatant disgusting lies at worst.

Think of Sandy Hook school shooting hoax by Alex Jones! Successfully sued into bankruptcy for his lies! Probably paid for by the pro gun lobby.

Some of the "champions" of free speech on the right openly support the rich and powerfull like Elon Musk and Donald Donald Trump who censor and bully critics and do their best to stifle free speech and discredit journalism and journalists who ask hard questions.

Its how authoritarians come to power.

In Russia, Putin puts his political opponents and critics in jail or has them poisoned.

Is this the kind of world you want to live in where falsehoods and lies are repeated again and again until we end up being led by the Putins of the world?

Indeed.
Traditional news sources have become difficult to access and tend to focus on issues with ratings drawn from particular demographics.
I haven't watched CTV News in 5 or 6 years. Similar for Global and CBC.
Haven't had a dish for 6.
Perhaps mainstream is no longer a fit descriptive.
I struggle to find broad, untargeted news.

I seldom watch legacy media but do watch Vassy Kapelos on CTV daily.
She gets all kinds of high power people on for interviews and doesn't let them get away with spouting rhetoric.
Seems to be smarter than your average politician so they can't bully her.
When she is not there the program is seldom worth watching.
I record it and watch what I find interesting when I have time.
My favorite news source.

Vassy is pretty good. Agreed. Power Play and Power and Politics which she used to host have a similar format and covers most issues with view points from the Conservatives, Bloc, Liberals and the NDP.

Of course for some of the knuckle heads they only want to hear their own side of the issues.

But having guests and analysts from both sides is not how Fox or Rebel work.

And when asked, Pierre Poilivere avoids media interviews and hard questions like the plague. Preferring the one liner simpleton slogans and friendly media outlets.

Have you ever seen PP recently interviewed on CTV, CBC or Global? It is like he is in hiding! What is he afraid of?

Why is he so shit scared of making his case, if it is so compelling and convincing?

A good yapper with a good argument should never hide from the media!

Of course the only reason is renewable energy! According to the arm chair libertarian expert in Alberta who now wants to pick winners and losers instead of letting the market decide!

The flat earthers want to ignore free market Texas, where wind and solar are being chosen over other more expensive options because of economics!

We can count on Furrow to follow A5's simpleton flawed analysis which is, the only cause of rising electricity prices are renewables. LOL

Apparently there are no other factors even when the majority of electricity is produced by natural gas which went up in price significantly during the time period in question.

Most world commodity and energy prices rose after Russia illegally invaded the Ukraine. And it affected prices in North America as well.

Utilities passed on rising gas prices.

Blame costlier natural gas, rising fees for increasing Texas power bills

?

"The cost of fuel is a main reason for the faster growth of Texas power prices. Natural gas prices doubled over the 12 months ended in August to a monthly average of $8.58 per million British thermal units (MMBtu). They subsequently declined to $5.66 in October.

Natural gas provided 44 percent of the state’s electric power this past year versus 37 percent nationally. The structure of Texas’ power market also allows greater pass-through of costs to customers, as market pricing governs power producers and utilities. Prices are less flexible in more regulated markets that aren’t as tied to supply and demand."
