Eucalyptus release oil when burning actually enhances fires once certain temp is reached. Fires needed to crack open gum nuts to release seeds.

    Presume pine similar?

National parks here get razed by fires green shoots from bottom of tree stumps within a month and new seedling. Amazing plant survives long hot springs summer and autumn’s

Edit low level fires do forests amazing amount of good back in 60/70s used to be controlled burns in most national parks every 3rd or 4th year if didn’t happen naturally through lightning not any more

If climate change is a thing it actually reduces winds on broader scale due to more high/dry stable weather and less lows/unstable windy weather. Rule 101 of climate change I’m a sceptic so take it with grain of salt.
And if you put your meteorologist hat on not rocket science to figure out.
Santa Anna winds interesting phenomena. We got one locally a southerly wind that comes up about 40 km wide and 80 kms long the dies out gives me slightly cooler nights

Eucalyptus are quite common along the central coast in California.
It was introduced and thrived like a native.
There are small forests that are not planted.
As you say not a great tree where fire is a common occurrence due to the natural oil content.

Pines will go up in flames like a torch due to the oil in the needles.
Sometimes the fire blows through so fast the main tree is still suitable for lumber.

Three or four major dams in that area were supposedly taken out to save a fish species or two, not sure how many. Lets see now , extra water supply means more water for the city infrastructure , IE fire hydrants! Maybe Newsoms agenda is like our PM , just ignore it and hopefully it goes away soon ?
