Actually Chuck2 if you were half as smart as you think you are you would realize Bjorn Lomberg is not a climate change denier and in fact he researches the most intelligent and cost effective ways to respond to climate change but of course to find that out you would actually have to read his article.

If we were smart( we arent) we would throw a 300% tax on tesla and starlink and drop the 100% tariff on chinese made evs.

Goalie, are you suggesting that a disposable EV or solar panel made in China with no environmental standards, made with toxic materials mined and processed and refined in countries with no environmental standards are better for the environment than a slightly less disposable EV or solar panel assembled in North America from the same toxic materials, mined and processed and refined in the same countries with the same lack of environmental standards?
Both of which have a higher lifetime environmental footprint than a comparable ICE vehicle.

And that there are NO VIABLE companies in north america that create solar panels or could ever create enough solar panels at a reasonable cost to power everything in North America.
BUT we will give you ( used to, anyways) a subsidy if you put up solar panels or buy an electric vehicle that is twice the price of a comparable ev!

open up any EV company for 0% tariff importing. Open up any solar panel company with 0% tariff importing.

Perhaps I'm naive, but it looks to me like musk is in this for the right reasons, not personal gain. Push comes to shoves, I think he would put what's good for the country ahead of what's good for one of his companies.

Shareholders and fiduciary duty may have a different perspective.
