America is going back to an isolationist stance after being heavily involved in international matters since the end of ww2. You cannot blame them when the rest of the world has to depend on them for protection with no intention of footing the bill except footing the bill actually involves allowing the US dollar to be the world’s reserve currency and that most commodities are traded in it. American dominance and ownership of industry around the world as well. American navy ensures that world shipping routes remain open and safe. The current administration can walk back their international role and become more inward but at what point do American interests abroad become threatened and does security of resources and products for the USA home become scarce? For sure Europe has been stable because of the post ww2 Marshal plan rebuilding, involvement during the Cold War, nato etc. Sure now they can pony up and take their security seriously. Nothing wrong with that. So can Canada. Even when Trump is gone this trend will continue. Good or bad I don’t know but it is happening.
