I wouldnt read so much into it. If you wanna stir the pot you go ahead. That was just a fun allstar weekend thing that helped to stir up some viewership in the usa and get everyone fired up for the olympics. No more no less.

The timing just happened to co incide with everything thats going on politcally... and sadly, from the chantel krevaz....( spell check) singing the anthem to wayne gretzky being seen alongside trump... everything got politicized. It didnt need to but... frankly i would say the canadians started it with boo-ing the usa anthem. I played alll sorts of high levels of hockey and boo-ing an anthem is a huge no no for the fans... such as leaving the blue line early from the anthem finishing ( as a player) is.
. Shameful actually.
Was a low point of the tournament and ( and was going to be reciprocated by the us)

Trump honestly couldnt point out which was the blue line, let alone an offside.

Brought much needed attention to the game in a country where it ranks sixth amongst professional sports. Far as booing and washed up woke mid grade talent changing the anthem they can go stuff it. On the other hand washed up “I shill for reverse mortgages” Gretzky, Ovechkin will surpass you and you can go to hell. NHL was diluted with a bunch of WHA teams and talent, and you were on a damn good line which babysat and fed you the goals. Crosby is easily as good as you and didn’t have the same set of circumstances and never went as far.
