That is why we have standards and protocols. Operating room doctors need the proper equipment handed to them in the right direction. They can’t be teaching English and giving lessons when they have a heart or a gut opened and exposed. Literate, educated, qualified hires are the only hires that will do an good job. Sorry if I touch a woke nerve CC and Agstar but facts are facts.
There is nothing woke about hiring unqualified applicants. That is a right wing talking point which you have wrongly adopted.

I cringe and have to bite my tongue when I hear young people complain about immigrants.

There's alot of contributing factors, divorce rates and economics just to name a couple. I even think computers are to blame, who needs a social life when the teens can stay in their parents home and have a digital social life, and don't get me started on the gaming thing(just another addiction)!
We have 4 kids. No chasing careers here. We both need to work to put food on the table and pay for family expenses. No inherited anything on this farm, not even equipment as it was all junk, from 50s/60s/70s mostly Cockshutt. No trips to warm places. You guys that took over from daddy don’t have a sniff. So don’t accuse my wife of chasing a career.

STO, don't take the post personally, it was a general comment and in my opinion has a large element of truth in it.

Edit in, ironically it seems the more affluent people are the fewer children they have. Remember nothing is ever black and white.

No, that is exactly what d e i is. Lowering the standards so that the hiring process can meet quotas instead of competency.

Because in most cases, the quotas cannot be met by hiring the most qualified candidates.

Hiring with quotas without regard for qualifications is wrong. Some qualifications have been set keep certain groups out of positions without regard for the necessity of that qualification .

Now I'm offended. Still use a fleet of them.
This discussion doesn't feel very inclusive.
What kind of diversity do we have if we can't include one of the only Canadian branded tractors?

DEI hiring, and DEI admissions at Universities, is scary. Because it IS wrong to hire unqualified applicants anytime. My point earlier was to expand the number of Canadian nurses our schools are turning out and then we wouldn’t need all the Filipinos, etc. So expand the program, drop the GPA a little bit and let more Canadians in, and only those that meet the GPA. Not fill the program up with DEI and leave a few spots for white people competing for GPA. Right now, DEI takes priority to GPA. That’s wrong! Toronto

Also, Immigrantlish is a huge safety problem in some occupations but especially in health care because they can’t comprehend what they can’t speak or understand, unless there is another staffer that can translate. And it’s life or death to the patient if they hang the wrong bag on the IV or set the wrong dose.

I have a niece who tried desperately for three years to get into the radiology program 95+% average. She gave up! Can you imagine.

Is it true the Universities can CHARGE MORE for tuition from (temporary?) immigrants or students here on student visas?

                      I don't think you're wrong STO...
