"And so the nursing shortage continues. To be honest, all this immigration needs to stop. Send them all back. Deport 3 million people from Canada. Health care crisis solved. Housing shortage fixed. Schools no longer over populated. I dream of the days, and tell my kids, that as little as 5 years ago, everyone at the Tim’s drive thru spoke perfect english, not immigrantlish.[/QUOTE]"

Your 3 million to be deported is one hell a wide brush stroke.

Take my vehicles to a local garage where the owner operator has himself and two Ukrainian immigrants as mechanics.

The owner says there both great workers who know what their doing and he can't find any home grown Canadians wanting to get their hands dirty.

Are they not contributing to the economy and filling the avoid?

Just one example I see daily of immigrants filling positions that spoiled sell entitled Canadians DON'T want to do.

This discussion doesn't feel very inclusive.
What kind of diversity do we have if we can't include one of the only Canadian branded tractors?
Most Cockshutt are actually red painted, US made, Oliver in disguise. The last real Cockshutt was a 1962 model 570. There are a few of those around here and there.

That's why I said Canadian branded.
My grandpa's actual cockshutt 30 is at Sunnybrook farms in Red Deer still running every day all summer doing wagon rides.

Most of us realize we need immigration because quite frankly we haven’t reproduced ourselves enough. At least my wife and I have done our part but many haven’t. The problem though is as does happen with sharp rises in immigration numbers is that infrastructure ie housing and healthcare cannot keep up because there is a lag in revenues as newly landed do not contribute to coffers fast enough. As well, housing is at a deficit. Sure there is a need for skilled hardworking people. No doubt about that but a far cry from housing refuges in hotels and paying their way because we can’t accommodate them or their skill set or lack thereof does not fit the job demand.

Would be better to just train more nurses from Sask/Alberta than to import them here. Add more nursing spots at our Universities and lower the GPA needed for admission. It is 87% at University of Lethbridge, and you are waitlisted if not at that level. Why not drop it to 80% or 75% for admission and double the number of spots?

And add to the fact that these Filipinos like to send lots of their money back home to the Philippines, and now we have an economic problem, where money is being sucked out of our economy forever, never to be seen again, never to be spent in our communities and local businesses again. No wonder our economy is underperforming so badly compared to other G7 countries.

And they have our system figured out. They come here and after a year or so, pregnant, having babies, collecting our maternity leave benefits. Using up all their sick days on the weekends.

            I agree with you 100%

When you let the equivalent of a city the size of Medicine Hat in the country every month +- , and you only build 2500 home across the country , gee , what could go wrong?

This Liberal Government in this country for 9 plus years should ALL have their pensions stripped from them. Among other punishment. Time to pull the band aid off people!

Can anyone explain to me how the government became responsible for building houses?

I understand they put up the road blocks to make development unnecessarily difficult. But I don't see how they are or ever should be involved with the actual building process.

Plop in a million immigrants per year and I wonder why a crapy apartment in Regina is 1700 and a power bill of 300 per winter month is, heat exchanger heat isn’t cutting the mustard, the working class is absolutely screwed, we farmers and ranchers are somewhat insulated for now.

You got me there. What are the taxpayers actual obligations for building houses and providing water and services on reserves? or off for that matter?

Good example of how that will go.
