How does that compare to the energy cost to create a carbon credit?

Both are equally intangible.

Both are consuming massive amounts of energy, massive amounts of capital, and wasting the innovation and time of some of the best and brightest human resources.

Neither one produces anything of any value whatsoever. Both are essentially a pyramid scheme.

There are so many actual solvable problems facing the world that those resources could instead be directed at.
And, when each of these schemes collapses, we will have nothing to show for it, but the real problems will still exist, and we will still have to solve them.

I cannot argue with that. Carbon credits do not address the actual pollution issue.
