National Agriculture Awareness Conference
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - August 26, 2009
The 2009 National Agriculture Awareness Conference will be held October
5 -7, 2009 in Saskatoon, SK. This year's theme will be New Images of
Agriculture.
"This year's conference will focus on public perceptions of agriculture,
says Sara Shymko, Conference Committee Chair. "Our keynote speaker
Stephen Lewis, a respected humanitarian, will also build on the G8
Summit in Italy that recommended a dramatic shift from food air to
agricultural development and what this means for farming communities and
organizations in Canada."
Some other topics include panels on perceptions outside and within the
ag world, the media's role in agriculture awareness, the importance of
communicating agriculture success stories, learning what's important to
the millennium generation and the disconnect between youth and
agriculture.
"With more than 150 agriculture awareness leaders from across Canada
expected to attend, it is wise to secure a spot early," Shymko says. "We
will kick things off on Monday evening with our Opening Reception
featuring a performance by Sky High Productions titled Pull of the Land.
The conference will get underway Tuesday morning at 7:30 AM with
breakfast, followed by our keynote presentation from Stephen Lewis."
